Bridge Over Troubled Water: Supporting Others Through Shared Challenges

Join hosts Tara, Leslie and Kimberly in the latest episode of Unfiltered Perspectives. They challenge conventional thinking by exploring the possibility of empathizing and supporting others, even while dealing with personal struggles. The episode delves deeply into the interconnected nature of our personal experiences, while questioning how our individual struggles shape our capacity to help others.
The trio addresses evolving definitions of success and failure and how these concepts influence our interactions. They emphasize the potential we have to offer meaningful support despite our personal battles. Using personal experiences as examples, they suggest collective strength and growth can be achieved when we are honest about our journey and open to learning from each other.
The episode concludes on an empowering note, highlighting the concept of the 'platinum rule', a progression from the widely known 'golden rule.' The platinum rule advocates treating others as they wish to be treated, underlining the importance of understanding, respecting individuality, and embracing diversity.
In this thought-provoking conversation, the hosts share personal stories of feeling like hypocrites and how offering advice or shedding light on others' situations can inadvertently provide insight into navigating personal struggles. It emphasizes the importance of honesty, accountability in our relationships, and the value of seeing ourselves from different perspectives.
A powerful takeaway from the conversation is “you don't need to be perfect to inspire others; let people get inspired by how you deal with your imperfections.” This episode serves as an open conversation about self-awareness, reflection, personal growth, and encourages listeners to extend help and understanding to others despite their struggles.
So, tune in to expand your perspectives on human behavior, acknowledge your process of change, and revel in the beauty and struggles of life's journey.

I hate when I feel like I can’t be honest about things because of the way the other person may receive it. I tend to do it anyway with as much kindness as I can; and if feelings get hurt maybe that is something to talk about. But if the person just shuts down and there is no room for communication, I have to accept that I did my part by saying what needed to be said, and being open to having a dialogue where we both actively listen to each other and not just wait for turns to attack.
